CREATE A PORTFOLIO

A portfolio is a good way to share your work with others either through EasyCampus or externally. If you have the E-Portfolio add-on, the E-Portfolio block is available to you whether you are a student or an administrator.

Before You Begin

Determine what you want to share:

  • Personal Information
  • Links
  • Files
  • Notes
  • EasyCampus Assignments

Determine with whom you want to share your portfolio:

  • Nobody (personal)
  • Everyone, even non-campus members
  • All campus members
  • Specific members of the campus

Begin

  • Locate the E-Portfolio block in a course or on the EasyCampus landing page

E-Portfolio Block
  • Click My Portfolio in the E-Portfolio block. The screen will change and you will be ready to begin setting up your portfolio.

The Information tab
  • Click the Edit button. The screen will change to let you enter a message.
  • In the Message box, enter any text, images, or other information about yourself.  When you’re ready, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the form.

Tip: This is a good place to put a résumé or CV

  • You will see the information you entered on the tab. You can use the Edit button again to make any changes.

The Categories tab
  • If you want to categorize the items you will share, you can use this tab to create categories. Click the Edit button to create a new category. The screen will change to help you create a category.
  • Type a name for your category and then click the New button.
  • Continue entering categories and/or sub categories using the same method. When you’re ready, click the End Editing button at the bottom of the form.
  • You will see the categories you entered on the tab. You can use the Edit button again to make any changes.

The My Portfolio tab
  • If you want to share any links, files, or notes, you can add them on the My Portfolio tab. Select the type of item you want to share in the dropdown and then click the New button.
  • A form will display to help you enter your item. Fill in the fields of the form and then click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the form.
  • Continue entering new items until you are finished. You can return to this tab whenever you want to enter a new item.
  • You will see the categories you entered on the tab. You can use the Edit button again to make any changes.

The Views tab
  • This is where you create a page you can share with others. The page will be made up of the items you’ve entered in your portfolio. Click the Add View button to begin.
  • A form will display to help you create your View. Enter a title for your View in the first box. If you want, you can describe your portfolio in the Description box.

Example: Adam Smith’s Portfolio

  • The next portion of the form lets you create a headline and then drag items on the left side of the form into the view. To drag items in, point to the item you want to add and hold down the left mouse button. Still holding down the mouse button, move your pointer to the right into the View Design Area. White “dropspots” will appear to let you position the item. When it’s in the right place, release the mouse button. You can also drag items already placed in the Design View area until your layout is the way you want it to be.

Sample Design
  • When you’re happy with your design, scroll down until you see the Sharing box at the bottom left side of the form. If you want to share your work with anyone else, click the Change link next to No Access.
  • Based on your preference, check External Access, Internal Access or both. If you check Internal Access and you want to give access to only specific users, click the second option button and then scroll down to make your selections.
  • When you’re finished, click the Add button at the bottom of the form.
  • You will see the view you created on the tab. You can use the Add View button again to create other views.

The Export/Import tab
  • You can export your portfolio for use in other applications using this tab. You can also use this tab to import work from an EasyCampus assignment. For the first two options, you just click the link and then select the View you want to export.
  • To import an EasyCampus assignment, click the third link. A list of any available assignments will display.
  • Click the add this file link to the right of any assignment you want to import. The item will display immediately in the appropriate item section of your portfolio. Scroll down and add a title, a category, or any other information you deem necessary. Click the Save Changes button when you’re ready.
  • If you want, you can now go on and add the new item to a View.

The Shared Portfolios tab
  • This tab shows you all the portfolios you can view. This can include your own portfolio, those shared by another campus member with everyone, and any portfolio another campus member has specifically shared with you. Click the name of the portfolio under the View column to see it.
