You may want to create an event for a campus or course that can be viewed by your members or yourself. Such events could be external (e.g., an on-ground lecture), or activity-related (e.g., a scheduled chat session).

Before You Begin

  • Make sure you have displayed the Calendar block on your landing page or within a course.
  • Identify the date of the event you want to create.
  • Decide who will be able to see the event (only you, members of a particular course, every member of your campus).


  • Locate the Calendar block and then click the name of the month to see the Calendar in full-screen view.

Tip: You can use the Add block dropdown to add this block to a page.

  • Click the New Event button toward the upper-right corner of the page.
  • If you are on the landing page, choose whether this is a site event (for everyone) or a user event (only seen by you). If you are in a course, you can also specify a course event (available to course members).
  • Click the OK button. A form will display to help you define your event. Fill in the form and then scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
  • Click the Save Changes button. Your new event will appear on the Calendar on the date you specified in the form.
