Application Period

• 4 months before the VISA expiry date (Registration update around Jan~Feb / July~Aug)
  ※ ※ The Gwangju Immigration Office restricts individual visits by students. Please refrain individual visits.

Visa extension application eligibility

• For undergraduate and graduate students advancing to a higher degree program (e.g., from Bachelor's (D-2-2) to Master's (D-2-3), or from Master's (D-2-3) to Doctoral (D-2-4))
• Students whose visa is set to expire at the end of March or September each year.
  ※ Please note that the expiration date of the visa may vary for each individual, and all international students must apply for a visa extension before their visa expires.

How to Apply

• 1) Hikorea Online application service: ()
  - Students who cannot apply for visa extension via Hikorea can submit their documents to OIA office in person. If not, students who register, exceed the standard period of study or complete courses but work on the thesis must apply for visa extension via Hikorea website.
• 2) OIA Submission (In-person submission): Submit to the designated staff of the OIA during the specified period.
  - Only students who cannot apply for visa extension via Hikorea can submit the VISA related documents to OIA in person.
  - Students who cannot do visa extension via Hikorea website : ① GPA is less than 2.0 within the last year, including the winter/summer semester, ② students with GPA below 2.0, ③ If there is a need to reissue Alien Registration Card (lost card, lack of space on the back side of ARC, Etc.)
  
  ※ Information regarding the schedule for group submissions and the document submission location will be provided separately each semester through the individual email.

• Seeking a job immediately after graduation(D-10) are exempted from the score system for the first time
  ※ Score system(Qualification chart)is applied for extension of the stay in the future
